JAV, organised the way it is actually catalogued
JAV is the one category with a real cataloguing system already: every release has a studio code. The problem is that almost nothing on your disk uses it consistently, and the code is the only reliable key there is.
Why a folder does not cut it
01
The same release appears as ABC-123, abc00123, ABC123 and a site-specific prefix, and none of them sort together.
02
Filenames pick up uploader tags, resolution markers and site names that bury the code.
03
Performer and studio are rarely in the filename at all.
What Max Gooning does with it
01
Normalises studio codes across the formats they turn up in, so one release is one entry.
02
Pulls title, studio, performers, date and cover art from the databases that index by code — with a fallback source when the primary has no record.
03
Everything is cached locally, so the library keeps working with no connection.
